Anglesey Geopark - Unesco

The Incredible Journey:- understanding the reason for Anglesey's special rocks and landscapes. The course is for non-geologists and follows Anglesey's journey from Antarctica beginning over 800 million years ago to its present position in NW Europe. Anglesey is so special that it is a member of the European Geopark Network and Global Geopark Network (supported by UNESCO). The course involves 10 sessions comprising 5 talks, and 5 practicals (both included in a 2 hour session) practicals to illustrate the talks and 5 field trips. It will be from 6.30 to 8.30pm and finish on the week of 16th July 2012. At the end of the course, participants should have a good understanding of how Anglesey grew on its journey. The catastrophic events that helped to shape our rocks and the ability to recognise the rocks in Anglesey.
